Musculoskeletal / Sports Injury

Treatment programs and modalities for muscle, tendon, ligament and other soft tissue strains and tears as well as fractures and joint injuries of the lower limb (hip down) are all available at Leongatha Podiatry. Whether the injury has just occurred or it has been bothering you for years, there are treatment options available to get you back on your feet.

3D Scanned Orthotics

Here at Leongatha Podiatry we prescribe customised orthotics that are comfortable, functional and slim fitting. We use the highest quality 3D foot scanner along with intuitive software and our very experienced orthotic laboratory staff to produce the best orthotics possible for our patients.

We also offer semi-custom and "off the shelf" orthotics that are specific to certain injuries and foot types as a more affordable option for some patients.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a treatment technique which uses small filament type needles to release tight muscles. Dry needling is particularly effective when used in conjunction with other treatments in resolving musculoskeletal injuries.
Jackson is trained and well versed in administering dry needle therapy and although there can be some short term mild discomfort the long term results are proven.

Skin and Nail Care (including nail surgery)

Skin and nail health is an important part of overall foot health. Skin and nail conditions such as corns, callus, ingrown toenails and warts can be debilitating if left untreated. Jackson is excellent at treating these conditions using a diligent and empathetic approach to help you walk out pain free.

Children's Podiatry

We can help kids with a variety of different problems that may be affecting their lower limb development. Conditions such as pigeon-toed gait, toe walking, curly toes, heel pain and a wide variety of musculoskeletal injuries, that may often be mistakenly associated to growing pains can be assessed and treated in the clinic.

NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme

NDIS patients are more than welcome to take advantage of treatments provided at Leongatha Podiatry. Jackson has seen many NDIS patients and has undertaken training modules specific to the government scheme in order to better service his patients.

Lower Limb Bio-mechanical Assessments including Gait Assessments

Thorough biomechanical and visual gait assessments are conducted at Leongatha Podiatry in order to gain a better understanding of your injuries and how best to treat them. As part of these assessments Jackson will assess your joint range of motion, muscle strength and ask you to perform various movements and exercises in order to assess for weaknesses or abnormalities that can be addressed as part of your treatment program.

Lower Limb Neurological and Vascular Assessments

Nerve tests and doppler ultrasound studies of blood vessels will be conducted on your feet and legs to monitor the nerve and blood vessel health in your lower limb. A comprehensive report of your results from these assessments can also be sent to your Doctor highlighting any abnormalities that may warrant further assessment and treatment.

Footwear Prescriptions and Advice

With so many footwear options out there, buying shoes can be difficult for some people and it can be a costly mistake finding out the shoes you’ve purchased a week ago are causing pain and problems now.
Jackson is an expert in footwear and can give you advice on the features of a shoe to look for as well as write out a tailored footwear referral to take with you the next time you to purchase shoes.

Rehabilitation Programs

Rehabilitation (Rehab) is an important aspect of any treatment program when dealing with soft tissue injuries or post-operative care. We provide and take you through a tailored rehab program. To help you continue your rehab program at home, you are provided with videos and written instructions on how to perform your exercises through a software application (app) on your phone or computer.

Prolotherapy

Prolotherapy is an injection based therapy that is sometimes used for chronic injuries that have not responded to other treatments. Jackson is experienced in this area of treatment and can guide your through this treatment and its various options and prognoses.

Diabetic Foot Care

Diabetes can damage the nerves and blood vessels in your feet and causes a higher chance of bacterial and fungal infections in the skin. As part of managing your diabetes it is important to see us at Leongatha Podiatry for the assessment of your lower limb nerve and blood vessel health, skin and nail health, high pressure areas on your feet and/or wound treatment. Jackson will liaise with other health care practitioners to give you a holistic diabetes management plan to reduce your risk of diabetic foot complications.
